About Us
OurLearningFolio was created by Project-based Learning Systems, LLC based in Milwaukee, WI. We are a group of non-traditional educators that believe every student is entitled to the best education possible by whatever method best fits the learner as determined by the family, whether that be school, or home education. Prior to OurLearningFolio, our other solutions (Project Foundry and the Senior Project Tracker) were developed to help schools break out of their traditional teaching methods and use learning techniques already embraced by home teaching families (e.g.- individualized project-based learning).
Our Philosophy
At OurLearningFolio, we believe what’s best for the learner and family are decisions best determined by the family. No one should dictate the type of curriculum a family uses to educate their child. We also believe (as brain-based research supports) learning by doing makes content relevant and is the best way to ensure retention while fostering the inquiry of lifelong learners able to adapt to the world around them.
The Story Behind OurLearningFolio
Many of our homeschooling friends began asking us to develop a tool similar to Project Foundry and Senior Project Tracker that was more Homeschool Friendly.We took this feedback seriously and hit the ground running. We met with dozens of home learners from across the country to hear what was needed and desired. This new tool needed to be something that would not dictate to homeschoolers how to educate their family, but it would help need to them manage, organize, and present their learner’s accomplishments, no matter what their homeschooling philosophies might be. After two years of working with these homeschool families, OurLearningFolio was launched taking advantage of our existing reliable platform.
